ARCHITECTURE.
Reflection:
I have to start off stating that this research project opened my eyes towards many aspects of architecture that I was not aware of previous to. With the aid of my time at Kindrachuk Agrey Architecture, I am quite happy to state that architecture is the career for me.
As Wade had mentioned, there were many misconceptions I had regarding this job previous to my work experience. Architecture is a lot less design-based, and a lot more technicality-based than I thought. As an architect, I would be moreso responsible for created a space that has already been planned in the minds of my clients, rather than creating it myself and presenting it to them. I have learnt that communication is probably the most important skill to have. I need to be able to communicate with clients, coworkers, and anyone else involved what needs to be communicated in a direct manner. The biggest eye-opener, however, was the fact that as an architect, I would be responsible for a whole team of differently specializing people that will continually seek my help and advice. I therefore would need to be well-versed in a lot more careers than I thought.
At the end of the day...
I can see myself doing this type of work due to the sheer amount of joy I felt throughout my experience. There was aways something new to learn, and something new to accomplish be it in design aspect or the technical one.
I can see myself doing this type of work due to the poeple I met. They had all in some way helped me figure out what I wanted for myself, and I do beieve that everyone I will meet in the future in the creative field will continue to do so.
Lastly, I can see myself doing this type of work due to the sense of accomplishment that it provides. The fact that intern and registered architects and designers took the risk, and seeked my help for ideas and for the completion of their drawings and projects, and subsequently used them was honestly one of the most fulfilling times of my life. I can only imagine the sense of accomplishment I will encounter being a registered architect, and standing in front of a building that I spent hours on end designing, perfecting, and overseeing.
I can't wait.
