ARCHITECTURE.

"Architecture is the thoughtful making of space"
- Louis Kahn
1. Architecture is an exercise in TRUTH: A properly structured building is responsible for being honest in the expression of its function.
2. Architecture is an exercise in NARRATIVE: Architecture is responsible for relaying societal and cultural concepts, thus for the telling of stories.
It all begins with an idea. Good design ideas are not merely physically interesting, but are driven by underlying ideas. The more specific a design idea is, the greater its appeal is likely to be. This design requires consideration for form, space, and ambience to portray all the functional, technical, environmental, social, and aesthetic aspects that complete it. The creative manipulation and coordination of technology and materials, and of light and shadow are vital in this process. Designing in idea-specific ways increases the ways in which the public uses, and understand the architectural building space.
The role and responsibilities of architects include much more than the above-mentioned; documentation, and their propoer renderings are first and foremost in the realization of buildings and structures. Such documentation includes scheduling, cost estimations, and construction administration.
Architecture resides in the DNA of the building, in each beam of a wall, each window and door, each illuminating light fixture, that all collectively construct the body of the structure, and fulfill the needs of the specific space.
